Abiodun Egbetokun, PhD
Biography
Dr. Abiodun Egbetokun is an accomplished scholar and innovation policy expert with over two decades of experience in evolutionary economics, entrepreneurship, innovation systems and private sector development particularly within developing countries. He holds a PhD from the Graduate College “Economics of Innovative Change” (GK-EIC) at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Germany, along with specialized doctoral training in modelling, systems and dynamics from the DIMETIC programme.
He is currently an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainable Development at De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, where he also leads the Research Students Training programme in the Faculty of Business and Law. Before joining DMU, Dr. Egbetokun spent nearly two decades at Nigeria’s National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), rising to the position of Deputy Director (Research), where he coordinated national policy research, consultancy projects, capacity-building programmes and policy advisory work.
His research and teaching span engineering and innovation management, industrial policy, impact evaluation and entrepreneurship development. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, delivered presentations at major international conferences and served as a visiting researcher at leading institutions, including Oxford University, the Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa), Tshwane University of Technology (South Africa) and Academy of International Affairs (Germany).
Dr. Egbetokun is skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis and evidence-informed decision-making. A certified facilitator of online training programmes, he remains committed to advancing innovation knowledge and policy practice across Africa and the global South.
