This guide explains how to prepare, submit, and publish a manuscript with Biodiversity, Environment & Public Health (BEPH).

1. Selecting the Right Journal

Before submission, authors should ensure that BEPH is appropriate for their work. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary research at the intersection of biodiversity, environmental sustainability, ecosystem health, and public health.

BEPH considers original research articles, review articles, short communications, perspectives, policy analyses, and case studies addressing areas such as biodiversity conservation, ecosystem health, environmental pollution, climate change, One Health, environmental epidemiology, disease ecology, toxicology, water and sanitation, sustainable food systems, natural-resource management, environmental justice, environmental policy, and related subjects.

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

2. Submitting Your Manuscript

Online submission through the Koozakar submission portal is strongly encouraged because it allows authors to track the progress of their manuscripts efficiently.

Authors who are unable to use the online submission system may submit manuscripts by email to beph@koozakar.com.

Manuscripts should preferably be submitted in .doc or .docx format.

Authors are encouraged to include a brief cover letter explaining:

• the significance and originality of the study;
• how the manuscript fits the scope of BEPH;
• confirmation that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere; and
• any additional information that may assist the editorial assessment.

Submissions are normally acknowledged within 48–72 hours.

3. Preparing Your Manuscript

Authors should use clear, concise, and professional academic language. References and in-text citations should follow APA 6th edition style.

The manuscript should normally contain the following sections:

• Title – Concise, informative, and accurately reflecting the content of the study.
• Authors – Full names, institutional affiliations, and valid email addresses. Authors are encouraged to provide ORCID identifiers, and at least one author should provide an ORCID where available.
• Abstract – A clear summary of not more than 300 words describing the background, purpose, methods, major findings, significance, and originality of the work.
• Keywords – 4–6 terms representing the main themes of the manuscript.
• Introduction – Clearly present the research problem, background, rationale, knowledge gap, and objectives.
• Materials and Methods – Provide adequate information on the research design, study area where applicable, sampling, data sources, analytical procedures, statistical methods, ethical approval, and other information necessary for reproducibility.
• Results – Present the major findings clearly and logically using text, tables, figures, or appropriate statistical outputs.
• Discussion – Interpret the findings, relate them to existing literature, explain their implications, and identify important similarities or differences with previous studies.
• Results and Discussion – Authors may combine these sections where appropriate to the study design.
• Conclusion – Summarize the major findings and clearly state their implications for biodiversity, environment, public health, policy, research, or practice.
• Recommendations – May be included where justified by the findings.
• Acknowledgments – Recognize individuals or organizations that contributed to the study but do not meet authorship criteria.
• Funding – Identify all financial, institutional, or material support received for the research.
• Author Contributions – Authors may use the CRediT taxonomy to describe individual contributions.
• Conflict of Interest – Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or other interests that could influence the work.
• Data Availability Statement – State whether the supporting data are publicly available, available on reasonable request, restricted, or not applicable.
• References – References should follow APA 6th edition style and should be relevant, accurate, and verifiable. Authors are encouraged to use recent literature where appropriate.

Formatting Guidelines

Manuscripts should generally be prepared using:

• Times New Roman;
• 12-point font;
• double-line spacing;
• single-column layout; and
• standard page margins.

Tables and figures must be clearly numbered, titled, and referenced within the text.

Authors should:

• define abbreviations at first use;
• use SI units consistently;
• ensure mathematical expressions and statistical symbols are correctly presented;
• provide high-quality figures suitable for publication; and
• clearly acknowledge or obtain permission for any material reproduced or adapted from another source.

4. Review Before Submission

Before submitting a manuscript to BEPH, authors should ensure compliance with the following requirements.

Originality and plagiarism:

All manuscripts must represent original work. Submissions may be screened using plagiarism-detection and similarity-checking systems. Manuscripts containing substantial unattributed material, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of research misconduct may be rejected.

Data availability and reproducibility:

Authors should provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand and, where possible, reproduce the study. Appropriate data-availability statements should be included.

Research ethics:

Studies involving human participants, human biological materials, animals, or sensitive ecological materials must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international ethical standards.

Research involving humans should state the relevant ethical approval and should conform, where applicable, to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.

Animal studies should provide evidence of approval from an appropriate institutional or national animal-research ethics body.

Informed consent:

Where human participants are involved, authors must confirm that appropriate informed consent was obtained when required.

Authorship:

Every listed author must have made a meaningful scholarly contribution to the work and must approve the submitted version of the manuscript.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all authors:

• meet authorship criteria;
• approve the manuscript before submission; and
• agree with the authorship order.

Funding:

All financial or institutional support must be disclosed.

Conflict of interest:

Authors must declare any relationship or interest that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research. If none exists, authors may state:

The authors declare no competing financial or non-financial interests.

Acknowledgments:

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged with their permission.

Permissions:

Authors are responsible for securing permission to reproduce copyrighted tables, figures, photographs, maps, or other materials where required.

5. Open Access and Publication Fees

BEPH is committed to making scholarly research openly accessible to readers.

There are currently no submission fees and no publication fees for authors.

Authors are not required to pay an article processing charge (APC) for manuscripts submitted and published under the journal's current fee policy.

Any future changes to the journal's APC or publication-fee policy will be communicated transparently and published on this page before implementation.

Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit, relevance, methodological quality, originality, ethical compliance, and contribution to the field.

6. Copyright and Privacy

Authors retain copyright in their published work under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits sharing, adaptation, reproduction, and redistribution of published material, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source.

Personal information provided during manuscript submission is used solely for legitimate editorial, peer-review, production, and publishing activities and is handled in accordance with applicable privacy practices.

7. After Submission

Following submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to determine whether it:

• falls within the scope of BEPH;
• meets basic scholarly and ethical requirements;
• demonstrates sufficient originality and relevance; and
• is suitable for external peer review.

Manuscripts that pass editorial screening are normally subjected to double-blind peer review.

The review process may take approximately 2–16 weeks, depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revisions required.

Authors may receive one of the following editorial decisions:

• Accept;
• Minor Revision;
• Major Revision;
• Reject and Resubmit; or
• Reject.

Where revisions are requested, authors should submit:

• a revised manuscript; and
• a clear response to reviewers explaining how each comment has been addressed.

Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, formatting, proofreading, and online publication.

Because BEPH currently has no publication fee, authors will not receive an APC invoice under the present journal policy.

8. Peer Review and Editorial Integrity

Peer review is central to BEPH's commitment to scientific quality and integrity.

Reviewers are expected to assess manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and constructively. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by an author's institutional affiliation, nationality, funding status, or ability to pay.

The journal encourages a professional and developmental review culture intended not only to evaluate research but also to help authors improve the quality, clarity, and scholarly contribution of their work.

9. After Publication: Promoting Your Work

Authors are encouraged to actively promote their published articles to increase readership, visibility, scientific engagement, and potential citation impact.

Authors may share their work through:

• institutional websites and repositories;
• academic and professional societies;
• conferences and seminars;
• LinkedIn;
• ResearchGate;
• X and other social-media platforms;
• professional mailing lists; and
• research networks.

Koozakar may also promote selected BEPH publications through its communication, research-dissemination, and scholarly-engagement platforms.

10. Indexing and Abstracting

Biodiversity, Environment & Public Health (BEPH) is a newly established scholarly journal.

The journal is currently developing its publication record and will pursue inclusion in appropriate indexing and abstracting databases as relevant eligibility requirements are satisfied.

BEPH does not claim inclusion in any indexing service unless such inclusion has been formally confirmed.

Updates regarding indexing and abstracting status will be published transparently on the journal website.

11. Publication Ethics

BEPH is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, transparency, accountability, and research integrity.

The journal does not tolerate:

• plagiarism;
• fabrication or falsification of data;
• duplicate or redundant publication;
• inappropriate authorship;
• undisclosed conflicts of interest;
• manipulation of the peer-review process;
• citation manipulation; or
• other forms of scholarly misconduct.

Suspected ethical concerns may be investigated before or after publication, and appropriate editorial action may include correction, expression of concern, retraction, or notification of relevant institutions where warranted.

12. Final Notes

Publishing with Biodiversity, Environment & Public Health (BEPH) means contributing to an interdisciplinary scholarly community committed to understanding and protecting the connections among biodiversity, environmental quality, ecosystem integrity, human health, and sustainable development.

The journal particularly welcomes research that bridges disciplinary boundaries and produces evidence capable of informing science, policy, community action, conservation, and public-health practice.
