Submission Guide for Authors

Global Journal of Environmental Science & Sustainability (GJESS)

Thank you for choosing Koozakar as your publishing partner. Our mission is to help you advance your research, maximize its visibility, and enhance its impact. This guide provides a clear overview of how to particularly prepare, submit, and publish your manuscript with the Global Journal of Environmental Science & Sustainability (GJESS).

1. Selecting the Right Journal

Before submission, ensure that GJESS aligns with your research focus. The journal welcomes original articles, reviews, short communications, and case studies in environmental science, sustainability, conservation, climate change and other related endeavors. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. GJESS operates a rolling submission model and publishes 2–3 issues per year. For any inquiries, contact editor_gjess@koozakar.com.

2. Submitting Your Manuscript

Manuscripts should be submitted in .doc or .docx format, either by email to editor_gjess@koozakar.com or via the Koozakar submission portal. All submissions are acknowledged within 48–72 hours. Alongside the manuscript, authors are encouraged to include a cover letter summarizing the significance of the work and explaining why it fits GJESS.

3. Preparing Your Manuscript

Use clear, concise language and follow APA 6th edition citation style. The manuscript should include the following sections in order:

  1. Title – Concise, informative, and accurately representing the study.
  2. Authors – Full names, institutional affiliations, and valid email addresses. At least one author must include an ORCID identifier to ensure proper attribution and visibility of their research.
  3. Abstract – A summary of ≤300 words describing the purpose, significance, and originality of the work.
  4. Keywords – 4–6 terms representing the study’s core themes.
  5. Introduction – State the research problem, rationale, and objectives in accessible language.
  6. Materials and Methods – Provide sufficient detail for replication, including design, data sources, and analysis techniques.
  7. Results and Discussion – Present findings clearly, interpret their meaning, and relate them to previous work.
  8. Conclusion – Summarize the main insights and implications for policy, research, or practice.
  9. Acknowledgments – Mention contributors and funding sources where applicable.
  10. Conflicts of Interest and Author Contributions – Declare any conflicts or use the CRediT taxonomy to specify roles.
  11. References – Follow APA 6th format, using recent and relevant sources (preferably not older than 10 years).

Formatting Guidelines

Use Times New Roman, 12 pt, double spacing, single column layout. Tables and figures must be properly titled and referenced. Define abbreviations at first use, maintain consistent SI units, and ensure all visuals are of publication quality.

4. Review Before Submission

Before sending your manuscript, ensure compliance with the following:

  • Plagiarism: GJESS requires original work. All submissions undergo iThenticate/Crossref Similarity Check screening. Manuscripts with high similarity will be rejected.
  • Data Availability: Include a statement on the accessibility of underlying data, ensuring reproducibility.
  • Ethics: Studies involving humans or animals must have institutional approval and follow ethical guidelines such as the Declaration of Helsinki.
  • Author Contributions: Every listed author must have made a verifiable contribution. The corresponding author must complete and sign the authorship declaration form.
  • Funding Statements: Acknowledge all financial or institutional support received.
  • Acknowledgments: Recognize contributors or organizations that assisted but do not qualify as authors.
  • Conflict of Interest: Disclose any financial or personal relationships that might influence the work. If none exist, include the statement below.

Consent and Responsibility: All authors should review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

5. Open Access and Fees

GJESS is a fully open-access journal, ensuring free availability of research to a global audience. There are no submission fees. However, effective October 1, 2025, an article processing charge (APC) of $250 applies only upon acceptance. Authors from low-income countries, regular reviewers, and editorial board members may be eligible for waivers or discounts, often applied automatically. Financial hardship does not affect editorial decisions, as peer review remains independent and merit based. The Office of Research Advancement can assist authors in identifying funding alternatives or institutional support for APCs.

6. Copyright and Privacy

Authors retain copyright under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted distribution and reuse with appropriate credit.

Author details provided during submission are used exclusively for journal communication and are never shared with third parties.

7. After Submission

Acknowledgment of submission is provided within one week. All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review, typically completed within 2–16 weeks. This rigorous process ensures scholarly accuracy, integrity, and innovation. Peer review is the cornerstone of academic publishing, upholding quality, credibility, and the advancement of human knowledge.

If your paper is accepted, congratulations! You will receive an invoice with payment options including debit/credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Zelle, or Google Pay. Upon payment confirmation, your article proceeds to final production and online publication.

If your paper is rejected, remember that rejection does not equate to failure. It often reflects technical or methodological limitations that can be improved. Our editorial team values mentorship and may provide feedback or invite a revised resubmission for future issues. Authors are encouraged to view this as an opportunity for professional growth.

8. After Publication: Promoting Your Work

Once published, promote your article to enhance its visibility and citation impact. Share your work through institutional websites, academic networks, and social media platforms such as LinkedIn, ResearchGate, and X (formerly Twitter).

Active promotion increases readership, strengthens your academic reputation, and attracts collaboration opportunities. GJESS supports authors in maximizing the reach of their research through strategic dissemination efforts.

9. Final Notes

Publishing with GJESS means joining a network of scholars dedicated to sustainable development and environmental integrity. We are committed to transparent editorial practices, ethical scholarship, and global inclusivity.

Additional information on journal impact metrics, indexing, and dissemination performance will be communicated as part of our upcoming 2025 publishing report.
